Norfolk’s contemporary circus festival, Chapelfield Summer Circus, is back in the big top in the city centre’s Chapelfield Gardens from 11 to 14 July.

Circus Abyssinia has taken the world by storm, earning rave reviews around the globe. Ethiopian Dreams is a joyful family show featuring astonishing stunts and enchanting adventure. It follows the magical, true tale of brothers Bibi and Bichu, who dreamed as little boys of joining the circus. To the irresistible rhythms of Ethiopian music the show is a nonstop feast of death-defying tricks, ensemble acrobatics, human juggling, contortion, hoop-diving and Chinese pole. This is an amazing, funky, energetic and truly awe-inspiring show, that will enthral all ages.

Sharing the bill are Norwich’s own international circus company, Lost in Translation. Their latest show, Hotel Paradiso, is a hilarious story in which the staff of the run-down Hotel Paradiso try to outwit the dastardly banker to save their home. Daring, virtuosic aerial skills, stunning floor acrobatics and juggling combine with laugh out loud clowning and physical comedy to deliver thrills, gasps, laughs and drama aplenty.

Circus Cabaret Lates on Friday and Saturday nights, hosted by master of contemporary cabaret Dusty Limits, feature renowned and celebrated performers from around the world including Joseph Keeley, Vendetta Vain and Crystal Stacey.

There are also shows by young performers from the Norfolk Academy for Dance & Circus Arts and the Oak Circus Centre, as well as free workshops and outdoor entertainment.

Chapelfield Summer Circus is supported by Arts Council England, Norwich City Council and Norwich Town Close Charities.
